Wright Moore, tenor

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Wright Moore attended Amherst College and received a BA in 1988 with a major in music. Wright remained in the Northeast and attended Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, where he earned a Master’s in Music in 1993. Wright’s professional artistic pursuits encompass both music and fine arts.

As a lyric tenor, Wright Moore has performed with opera companies in the United States and Europe. Highlights from previous work in opera include: Second King in Die Liebe der Danae with the Salzburg Festival (Salzburg, Austria); Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Camille in The Merry Widow, and Kudrjasch in Katya Kabanova with the Luzerner Theater (Luzern, Switzerland); Pong in Turandot with Virginia Opera (Norfolk, VA), Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with the Circulo Portuense de Opéra (Porto, Portugal) and Mississippi Opera (Jackson, MS); both Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress, and Sam Polk in Floyd’s Susannah with the Wiener Kammeroper (Vienna, Austria); Matteo in Arabella for the Braunschweig Staatstheater, directed by Brigitte Fassbaender (Braunschweig, Germany); Leukippos in Daphne for the Opera du Rhin (Strasbourg, France); Tamino in Die Zauberflöte for Teatro Lirico d’Europa (Madrid, Spain); and Hooker in the World Premiere of Emmeline by Tobias Picker with the Santa Fe Opera (Santa Fe, New Mexico), featured on PBS’s Great Performances Series. Concert engagements include: Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Bizet’s Te Deum with the Luzern Symphony in Luzern’s KKL Concert Hall in Luzern, Switzerland; and Carmina Burana with the Sioux City Symphony.

As a visual artist, Wright Moore began painting professionally in 2005 after completing studies in the atelier tradition at the Art Students League of New York and the Ridgewood Art Institute in Ridgewood, NJ. Wright exhibits his artwork in the Hudson Valley at the Images Gallery in Briarcliff Manor, NY and at the Flatiron Gallery in Peekskill, New York. In his work Wright expresses elements of form and atmosphere, seeking always to emphasize concepts of structure and light effect. His first “one man show” opened November 1, 2007 at the Images Gallery in Briarcliff Manor.
